“It is a dream to be an owner of such fantastic horse and I don’t know how to thank Elka Guðmundsdóttir for finding this mare for me and my daughter Oline.” says Elisabet Norderup Michelson that sent me a mail in august 2012 searching for a well breed 3 year old mare. Sitting down in front of the laptop with Guðmundur Björgvinsson we decided to offer and recommend a young mare from the breedingfarm Árbær, daughter of Aron frá Strandarhöfði and 1. prize Baldur frá Bakka daughter Glás frá Votmúla. After a short video of this tall and elegant mare the deal was on and Garún started her training, first in Árbær and than by Guðmundur Björgvinsson and Eva Dyroy that knew excactly what to do with this princess that got better and better every week and every month… ending at the top of the top – WorldChampion as a 6 year old mare with a total score of 8,62 in total score.
Garún was not the only horse at the WM with a history from hest.is but she is a great example of what can be done when you believe in a horse. Through many phonecalls with Elisabeth in this three years process it was always clear how much she believed that Garún was capable of being the best, she listened to the trainer and was patient, at the end she couldn´t have written a better script her self.
